KUCHING: The famed Juh Sungkei di BCCK this year was held from April 3 to 29, 2022. This was phenomenal for BCCK, as there were over 35,000 diners visiting Juh Sungkei di BCCK, the largest in Sarawak, after a two years’ hiatus due to the pandemic. All the vouchers were snapped up by the third week of Ramadhan, which was a first in the history of Juh Sungkei di BCCK.
BCCK took the health and safety of all its guests seriously during the period. Diners were required to display their MySejahtera status as well as their complete certificate of vaccination to the staff at the admittance counter, including maintaining social distancing and remain masked when not eating. BCCK went with served buffet services for diners to ensure their health and safety.
Despite all these restrictions, BCCK managed to employ a total of 464 casual workers, providing much needed working exposure opportunities for both hospitality and tourism students. The supply for chicken and beef satay had reached a record high, with over 41,000 pieces for beef and 68,000 pieces for chicken, which were locally sourced from Kuching’s supply-chain-network. This illustrated BCCK commitment to working closely with their partners.
BCCK community engagement extended beyond local economy and employment opportunities in hospitality industry. The Centre continuously aspires to drive impact and inspire change especially for those in the vulnerable communities. With this in mind, Kumpulan Parabena and BCCK distributed Ramadan Goodies for the breaking of fast and cash vouchers to the children of Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah, for their use during the 2022 academic year. This was a slight departure from us hosting them physically previous year due to the pandemic.
BCCK also collaborated with Kuching Autistic Association (KAA), as part of our CSR initiatives to include facemask lanyards, which were uniquely handmade by the children from KAA, as part of our BCCK Gourmeal Gift Basket, for the first time this year.
“Supporting the local communities has been close to the heart of BCCK’s Board of Directors, senior management and staff. We would like to take the opportunity to express our gratitude to all our amazing customers for their support in Juh Sungkei di BCCK, as well as all the incredible crews involved, to ensure the success of the event. BCCK will continue to be the number one choice for Kuching and stay tuned for even more exciting Juh Sungkei di BCCK 2023!” said Mr. Eric van Piggelen, CEO of BCCK.
