The evening began with a speech by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, as he welcomed the children and distinguished guests to the event. “Over the years, BCCK has always looked forward to reaching out to different charitable bodies on special occasions to spread joy and love. These causes are close to the heart of BCCK’s board of directors, senior management and staff. It is not just a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity, it is about spending quality-time with the children and bringing smiles to their faces. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the BCCK Management team, I wish everyone here tonight success in their studies, in their work, and in everything they aspire towards in the year 2023.”
The event commenced with the lighting up of the Christmas tree to mark the beginning of the festive holiday season, followed by a special performance and singing of Christmas carols by the children. Each child also receives a Christmas gift from BCCK before they were feted to a scrumptious Christmas buffet dinner at the Raintree Restaurant.
Captain Cathy Aloba, superintendent of the Children’s Home Kuching, said “The children were very happy and excited in the first place when we told them that we will be celebrating Christmas with BCCK. It was really a great evening so much more with sumptuous food especially prepared for us. Not forgetting the Christmas gifts that we received. We are also very happy sharing the spirit of Christmas, the carolling and performances rendered by the children.”
“BCCK has long standing relationships with various charitable bodies in Sarawak and reaching out to the less fortunate especially during the festive season is part and parcel of our commitment to BCCK’s CSR initiative. Every child deserves to feel special during the holidays and the joy on a child’s face when they meet Santa and receive their gift is what makes the holiday season extra special,” said Mr Eric van Piggelen, CEO of BCCK.
